  • Has a sense of fashion that is modern and eclectic

Amber Eden is the editor of Stitch.  Here, we profile her and sit down for some Q&A...

Amber Eden started out her career working in features editing at BRIDE’s, Country Home, and American Girl magazines. Then she merged her love of sewing with her love for words, going on to work as the chief editor of Threads, founding editor of SewStylish and CraftStylish.com, and as a weekly DIY Fashion columnist for AOL. She is currently the editor of Stitch and SewDaily.com.

Sew Beautiful: Where did you get your love for sewing?

Amber Eden:  I learned to love sewing from my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. All were excellent and meticulous seamstresses, and I could only wish to be half as good as each one of them.

SB:  What is the most rewarding part of your job as the editor of Stitch magazine?

AE:  I love working with the authors and helping them see their designs come to life in the magazine. Second to that, I love having the opportunity to create designs for the magazine myself.

SB:  What is the hardest part or most challenging part of your job?

AE:  I am a passionate fashion, followed closely by home dec. And because of my sister magazine, Quilting Arts, I am quickly developing a passion for quilting.

SB: Is there a particular fashion designer or sewing teacher that inspires you the most?

AE:  For the designer, Valentino. For sewing, I would have to say Kenneth D. King, who taught me almost everything I know about couture sewing.

SB:  What is the one sewing product or gadget you can’t live without?

AE:  My 18-inch clear ruler!

SB:  GOOD ONE!!
